New lace time
« on: January 31, 2020, 02:25:18 PM »
The last time I purchased some laces for my older boots, I bought Core by Derby Laces. They are sold online, and I like them better than most of the skate-branded laces available at pro shops.

At that time, I lamented that they didn't have slate gray laces. I sometimes have a hard time seeing black laces against black boots. (Yeah, I know, but I don't wear my glasses into the rink because a) I can't skate with them because they fog-up, or tears get splashed onto them,  or b) I have to store them in the skate bag where I have been known to place my skates on top of them.)

Previously, I had purchased some other colors besides black to try, but didn't find them to my liking. Without gray available, I stuck with basic black.

Well, guess what! They now have gray!

That's perfect! I can actually see the laces for a change. Plus, they will go with my gray hair!  ;)

Sometimes it's the little things.

Bill, you would have made a bigger splash at the rink if you had kept the periwinkle laces and dyed your hair to match.  :-)

Yeah, but then I might be confused with rink staff...

I laced up the boots with the gray laces, and they are ready to go. My wife walked in and voluntarily offered that she really liked them. That's a good sign. I have no fashion sense.
