Slcbelle - A great trick is to think about your toes during your spiral:  LIFT the toes of your skating foot and POINT the toes of your free foot.  Lifting the toes of your skating foot will make it practically impossible to pitch forward.

My coach gave me these tips when I started skating again, and it definitely works!!  Doubletoe has some great advice :)

I was also told to think about pointing the toes of the free foot towards the ceiling to help get the required turnout.
