Post Title: Adult Skating Competitions in the Fall
Posted: 08-26-2010, 09:11 AM
I always loved the Halloween Classic? But after last year's scheduling disaster, does any one know if it's on for this year? If not, are there any other all adult competitions this fall?

Yup, Buckeye was the one I was going to suggest. I know Rachel and I will be going.

Are there any in the Northeast in December? I'm in school and not sure if my schedule would work for a competition any earlier. I'm toying with the idea of competing.

Buckeye is one of my favorites. I'll also be competing solo dance this year (ha!).

November 13/14. I'm judging, and competing team and interp. Think I'm going to test too.

That will work for me! I think my hubby wants to go on vacation around Thanksgiving, so I would like to compete well before then.

Aston IceWorks will be busy with Eastern Sectionals this year, and there is no sign of any plans for another Halloween Classic, Fall Classic or otherwise. IIRC, the original committee who did the Halloween Classic was not involved in the 2009 Fall Classic, and the fact that the adult events would be held on the weekend was not made clear until it was too late and they had too few registrations. This was sad, because the Halloween event was so much fun. :(

This is so disappointing. I always thought that once my son got into high school I would make the road trip to Aston to compete...well, he just started his freshman year and voila, no more Halloween Classic!!
Maybe the Peach Classic next year...

sk8lady, why not Buckeye?

Here are some competitions in which both Canadian (Skate Canada) and American (USFSA) skaters can compete for adult skaters and skaters who are younger than Skate Canada's magic Adult Skater age of 25 (All skaters competing in SC WOS Adult events will be marked with CPC/IJS in all levels and disciplines.) ;
Pat Abela / Lyle McPhedran Memorial Invitational (December 2010 in Windsor, ON, Canada across river from Detroit, MI, USA)

Yes, please do. We are planning on it being September 3-4.
