My right foot has shrunk
« on: September 18, 2014, 06:48:23 PM »
To make a long story short, I went to my fitter's today to get measured to have my right boot replaced (it's too wide). My fitter remeasured me and compared the results to my previous measurements in 2009. I've lost a full size in width and half a size in length.
Left foot, same-o same-o.

I have "Cinderella foot"

My right foot is smaller too, but for different reasons.

I'll have to address that in my next pair of boots.

How do the 2009 measurements compare to those taken recently when you ordered your Harlicks?

That's what I'd like to know too! Unfortunately, the fitter from Harlick's measured me for the new boots and we didn't have his measurements at hand.

That is so strange! I know feet can get larger after things like pregnancy (hello, entire closet of 8.5 shoes that I had to give away after giving birth) but I have not heard about shrinking feet! I doubt it has any correlation, but is this the same side as the broken ankle?

I'd be VERY VERY VERY careful with those measurements!!!
My feet  "shrunk" 1.5 size when I last purchased boots, after lots of pain, lots of doctors bills and rebulding my boots, results.... my fitters measurements were off by a full size!

Is it the same fitter?

Different brands of boot are designed to be measured differently (e.g., an SP Teri 8 and a Riedell 8 are different), and different fitters compare different lengths on the foot. So, if one of the fitters was inexperienced, or was only trained for one brand, you could get different results.

But I didn't know you could order just one boot!

It's not an order, it's a replacement for a boot that didn't fit.

I think my feet shrunk after I started skating.  I used to wear size 11 street shoes, now all I wear is size 10, and sometimes even those can feel a bit too large.  When I got my first skates, they seemed comfortable enough, though they became much less so over time.  When I later ordered customs, the blades were 3/4" shorter.  So either my feet shrunk or the fitting for the original skates was bad and I used to like a lot of extra room in my shoes...

That's so funny, as I'm finding myself liking the fit of smaller shoes too.
