Title: Phone dieing in rink from cold?
Post by: shariskate on January 26, 2014, 02:18:26 PM
Anybody have a solution for this?  I have an iPhone 4s and also an Ipod that I use to play my music when I skate.  Both die from being on the cold boards while skating.  They can start with 100% charge and after an hour, will go down to virtually nothing, and often die.  When I plug them back in, they are back up to 60% charge....so it's just from the cold.  I don't want to keep them on my body and I tried laying my phone on a hand warmer they other, day which did not work...anybody have a solution?

Buy a cheap refurbished MP3 player.  I have had success with the Sansa brand.

I don't leave my devices on the boards; I keep them in my tote bag or my pocket.   (I do have a teeny-tiny iPod Nano that I ****LOVE**** - it's about 1.5" square and has a clip, so I usually clip it to my shirt collar or tuck it inside my jacket.  Never  had a problem.)

Try using an insulated lunch bag instead of leaving the device exposed to the cold on the boards.  You could even tuck in a hand warmer.
