Title: Figure Blades (school figures, compulsory figures)
Post by: FigureSpins on August 24, 2018, 01:25:15 PM
Saw this on eBay - the seller has a lot of figure blades available in larger sizes.  Interesting.

Look at the photos showing the top side (the side that presses against the boot when mounted) of the sole and heel plates on one blade (bottom one on the attached photos).  The braze joints are all screwed up.  I'm surprised that blade was ever released from the factory and saw the light of day; should have gone to the scrap heap:

Must have been defective, huh?  I didn't actually look at the auctions because I already have patch skates.  Good catch!

Is that rust and corrosion? If it is, I wouldn't go near it regardless of the braze.

Were Fiesta blades meant for beginners? If so, and no one would be likely to jump on it, would the dubious braze matter?

I looked at your images blown up at a scale I can see the individual pixels. I'm not sure what you are looking at that you say is a messed up braze. Is it the black spots? How do you know it isn't corrosion, or a reflection of something?

Here are the images, blown up

If you click (double click?) on them, on a PC, you will see the individual pixels.

That joint style is common on older generation blades!
