TRUE Stretch Apparatus

We've been working out more at Planet Fitness due to our ongoing water heater issues.  (Hot showers are nice and others appreciate it when we shower regularly, lol.)

PF has a TRUE brand Stretch apparatus in the specialty room.  http://www.truefitness.com/commercial-fitness/flexibility/true-stretch/

Look at the floor: it has two angled sections.  I've been using this for basic stretching (waist twists, lunges, spiral stretches, etc.) but the angled flooring makes it ideal for simulating edges.  My outside edges have improved since I started using this for balancing exercises: inside/outside spirals, one-foot glides (foot forward, backward, tucked) and check positions. 

Next time you're at the gym, see if they have a similar apparatus and use it!

Very cool!  I wonder if you could do something similar by just improvising a ramp to balance on.

My PF has a stretching/cool down room and it’s my favorite thing in the whole gym.  I’ve always called that the stretching cage, but it’s fantastic as well as another machine/apparatus that mi e has that does an amazing g job stretching your back and hip flexors.

I also call it the "Stretching Cage!"  I wanted to use the mfg's name so people could look it up and see if they have access to one. 

It's great - between that stretching and the massage chairs, the pinched nerve in my shoulder is no longer an issue.  It's been plaguing me for months and it went away within two weeks of regular workouts.

Very cool!  I wonder if you could do something similar by just improvising a ramp to balance on.

A ramp would let you use sneakers or skates at home.  I would definitely add rubber, even if you're not using it with skates, because it stops you from sliding or slipping.

The Off-Ice Edge Trainer device uses the same concept, but it's more sophisticated and very expensive.  It's a great tool: I tried it out at a PSA Conference one year.  Not easy to master, so the skaters get a good workout from using it regularly.  The price was prohibitive.

I wonder if someone's tried the PF Stretching Cage with skates on their feet?  I wouldn't ask - it would damage the flooring - but others are have more nerve, lol.
