Title: Helix Training Machines
Post by: Isk8NYC on March 07, 2013, 09:10:13 AM
Our fitness center recently added a Helix machine that I've been using now and then.

It's like an Elliptical machine, which I use more often, but instead of pedaling in front-to-back circles, the Helix has the user pedal in side-to-side circles.  The trainer who introduced me to it said it's like speedskating or cross-country skiing - you have to shift weight from side to side as you pedal.

I really like it, but with my bum knee, I don't use it for long - maybe 5-10 minutes a day.  I like the way it makes my hips open and close.  It is similar to skating in that way.  Definitely works the abductor and adductor muscles, which are so critical for spins and jumps.
