Title: Origin of the Rink Roundup Forum
Post by: Isk8NYC on January 05, 2016, 11:18:45 AM
Mod note:

This thread was split from it's starting post, which was nicklazlo's review of Philly-area rinks.

The starting post is here:

These posts were not relevant to the review so the thread drift below was lost at sea.

I maintain a list of local area skating rinks. (BTW, does anyone know about a supposedly new skating rink that just opened in Baltimore?)

I used to include reviews. I received some very negative feedback from facility managers.

As a person who likes to skate at many local rinks, and doesn't wish to be banned, I learned to remove all such comments from that list.

You may someday want to skate again at one of the rinks you review, even the places you hate. Perhaps for a test or competition, perhaps because your favorite rinks don't have any ice time when you want it. Saying anything negative about a facility, in a very public place (skatingforums.com is indexed by common Internet search engines), may not be a great idea.

Just a thought.

Query, none of those concerns apply to me.  Many people on this board are anonymous and will not fear retribution.

Anyone who is distributing reviews should be prepared to stand up to both irate managers and dishonest reviewers.

Isk8NYC move if you like.
