Pre-Bronze Moves and FS, Bronze Moves
« on: August 09, 2012, 03:48:53 PM »
I tried scanning these but the comments on my copies are so light it's really hard to see anything on them, so I'm just typing them out.

I was SUPER nervous.. I don't think I stopped shaking during the entire session, even after I was done.  I was holding back on some of the moves - mostly just to pace myself (crossovers) or to not make myself more nervous (power 3's).  On the 5 step, I was rushing it and I knew it from the start.. and at the end I had a near collision with a coach and student working on choreo, so I'm just happy I actually finished the pattern.  I didn't get a re-skate on that one since my total was over passing.

I'm glad I got through them.. and now I can work more on my silver moves and polishing my bronze FS so I can test that soon.

Pre-Bronze MITF

Forward Perimeter Stroking: Excellent extension for this level.  Equal quality in both directions.

Basic Consecutive Edges: FO, steady lobes; FI, same; BO, nice control; BI, good.

Forward and Backward Crossovers: Bilateral ability, flow nice.  Relax and bend knees more.

Waltz Eight:  Nice organization, steady edges.

Forward R & L spirals:  Great body line.

Great Test ☺

Pass

Bronze MITF:

Perimeter Power Stroking: 2.5 F, quiet stroking, nice extension and continuous flow.  B,  attaining back inside, correct form, work on more power.

Power 3's: 2.5 Left, clean 3's, continuous flow.  Right, same.  Would like more power - feels like you're holding back.

Alternating Back XO's to BO edges: 2.6 Nice extension; good flow; quiet edges.

Forward Circle 8: 2.6 Good edge quality on FO & FI; equal circle size.

Five-Step: 2.4 Need to hold each edge longer, pattern should have a more even rhythm to it.

Result: 12.6 Pass
(passing total 12.5)

Pre-Bronze FS:

Jump #1:  Salchow - Good height and flow out.

Jump #2:  Loop - Good quality.

One foot spin:  Centered, solid positions.

Two foot spin:  Good.

Crossovers:  F, Good; B, Good.

Spiral:  Nice extension of all body lines.

Solid Test!

Pass

Congratulations!  I can't imagine taking 3 tests at once.  Good luck as you move forward with Bronze FS and Silver moves.  I'm working on both and it might be years for Silver moves and maybe never for Bronze FS because of injuries.  Silver moves are really challenging.

Congratulations! I can't believe you put a loop out there for pre-bronze FS -- very gutsy!  :)

Oops is it unusual in a negative way? I'm testing in a week and plan to do waltz jump and loop jump, as they have the best lift and consistency from all the jumps / half jumps I do...

I'm not the best person to ask, but it's probably a good thing as it shows you are more advanced than the test requires. When I took my pre-bronze FS test, I only had a consistent waltz and salchow, so those were the ones I did. I took the tests fairly soon after I got serious about skating, so I basically only had the minimum requirements for each test.

I did it just because I could.. this test could be passed with a waltz jump and any other half jump.. a full rotation isn't even a requirement.  A salchow and loop were overkill, but chosen because they are my best and most consistent jumps :)
