I always like to finish my last few minutes on the ice with a Layback spin and a Lutz jump, not necessarily in that order. Then, I gather my things to head off the ice.
Obviously, warmup ice or a competition is different, but after a practice, what's the last thing you do before leaving the ice?
-
not very often, but I like shoot the ducks toward the exit door when it's not crowded, sometimes with bags and binder and water bottle when ice is really light.
-
Once a week, I finish with change edge spirals for the last few minutes. I mess around with trying to get two edge changes in and whether I still prefer starting on an outside edge rather than the more common inside.
-
1 full circle of consecutive outside-edge spirals followed by one full circle of lunges.
-
I try to think of the one thing I would like to do before I leave the ice - one more turn, move, dance, figure - either something I forgot in practice or something I did well.
It is hard for me sometimes to actually get off the ice!
-
Remember not to leave my tissues/guards/drink/phone :)
-
Write in my skating notebook.
-
Check the clock
-
Do a long slow hollywood stop, ending at the gate. Then put on the skate guards.
-
Thank the coach.
-
I always like to do something well right before I leave, especially if I've been having a bad day. It could be a waltz jump or a simple upright spin just to leave on a good note.
-
Spread eagles and lounges, but it's because I never have time to practice them and only remember when the session is over.
-
I usually attempt one last backspin. (And then one more, if that one didn't go well, and then one more....) If after about 3, they're just not coming together (which is pretty common), I grab my stuff and get off the ice.

I'm guessing muttering swear words under my breath and shooting daggers with my eyes at the people who cut me off are NOT the things you were looking for...

I do this too :) Sometimes beating my head against the glass works too. LOL!!!

My son bows, and my daughter presents to the stands/audience. Then they are allowed to exit. All of the skaters from our "coaching group" do it, from the tinies on up.
In terms of skating stuff: 5 minutes of fast stroking patterns as directed by coach.
-
Try to remember to retrieve my jacket or vest that I invariability have left on the top edge of the barrier, before the Zamboni comes out and swishes by and knocks it to the outside of the boards and to the ground.

What's the last SKATING move you do before you leave the ice?
Maybe the above should have been the title of this thread.
-
I wind down by just going around a couple times doing moderate-speed forward stroking, trying to work on my posture and keeping my chin up.
-
Apparently some of you need some clarification because you didn't get the gist of the question. Everyone checks to make sure they have their things after they finish skating, or at least they should.

T=stop. ;)

In the spirit of what the OP was going for....I work on my very beginner hydro blade. Then I get my stuff and will often do power pulls to the gate.
-
I usually do spirals and back spins. THEN I mutter swear words and shoot daggers at those who cut me off. ;)
-
I always end with cross rolls so I can check my edges to see if my blades need sharpening! And a few spins maybe :spin: :spin: :spin:
I always just do a few quick laps though still, you never know when your last skate is so take it all in! :WS:

Man, I wish I always checked to see if I got all my stuff- the number of times I've had to ask someone to go grab my fleece after I've already taken my skates off is too high to count.
As for skating move, I've never had any sort of routine of what I do last to end practice. Just whatever I did before the time ran out.
-
I usually do a circle of back crosscuts just to feel the wind in my hair. :) Maybe a couple of twizzles since I am obsessed with them lately.
