We are going to Yosemite this winter and the girl will have a chance to skate outdoors there. I can't think of a prettier setting!
-
Yosemite is a beautiful place to skate! We've been the last several years over the holidays. On weekends and holidays it can be busy, but they add an early morning (not early for skaters though!) session which is usually very quiet.
Looking forward to seeing other responses. We always try out new rinks when traveling.

I've wanted to skate in Yosemite for years, but my husband refuses to drive up there in the winter. Rockefeller center is also on my list of dream place to skate.
-
I too would love to skate at Rockefellar Centre. Central Park would be cool too.

I have been able to skate in Lake Placid, NY, on the Olympic ice surface that was used for the 1930's Olympics. The rink and building are not brand new these days, but it was a thrill for me to " share " the ice with the Olympic skaters from such a long time ago. It was fun !

Robert Crown Ice Arena. So many people from there have blogs. It seems so exciting.
Also I'd like to meet Alexander Fadeyev and learn about blade sharpening from him.
-
I've already trained and competed on all 3 surfaces at Lake Placid (that magical and inspirational place), and skated at several other historic East Coast rinks so next on my list is Sun Valley, I think... or maybe the Broadmoor. Hmm, something to think about for future vacation planning. :)
ETA: And that's not even taking international spots into consideration. More to consider...

Robert Crown Ice Arena.
It has so much in common with Yosemite. Slowly crumbling walls, an unpredictable temperature, rain, and it smells like bear.

:laugh3
That comment is especially funny bec, when I was at the Aspen Adult Camp I had two friends who had a bear climb into their condo's hot tub. Maybe every skating rink smells like bear!

Rockefellar Centre around christmas time! :)
But my dream place would be at the olympics http://www.olympic.org/figure-skating, and be like one of this girls. Hearing all the people cheering.. but I just gotta keep dreaming..

I'd like to skate once at the ISU headquarters in Switzerland. I've been to the Rockefeller Center (not to skate), but the rink was smaller than I had expected. Central Park would be nice too.
