Padded shorts with gel pads? are there any good ones?
« on: August 15, 2015, 11:36:08 AM »
Hi all,
I am looking for a good pair of shorts for skating that would have a good gel pads in them. I would like to have more covered areas on bum and hips -  I'd like to have more protection. Do they exist? :) Any info will be highly appreciated. (I wear McDavid Knee Pad with Sorbothane Insert - and they are awesome. I'd like something like that on my bum and hips area!)

This is a topic that has been coming up recently.  Here are a few threads for you to peruse, if you haven't seen them already.  After a lot of online and a little bit of in-store research, I'm in the process of DIY'ing something to protect my badly bruised/broken tailbone.  I'm waiting on the gel padding to arrive, and will report on the other thread.

I would look at Kinzie's closet to start, there are also links to other products in those two threads.  There are a lot of foam options (even more if you mine the roller derby forums).  Not many of these seem to be tested by people on this forum though, which I think is why you haven't gotten any other responses.

One thing you can do is go for this:

People like these skating safe gel pads, and these you can cut to your own spec's and put them where you want/need.  Seems a lot of people end up DIY'ing.....
