They specifically want "boys and girls", I wonder if adults can serve as sweepers at AN? lol

How tall are you?  Maybe you can pass!

I wonder if there's an audition process?

LOL I am not attending AN, was just curious because it mentioned things I never thought about such as sweeper practice and coach certification. Wonder if it's first come first serve or they choose skaters based on skill level?

My kids were sweepers for Regionals a few years ago.  Basic skating skills were required - skate the distance between the hockey lines on one foot, be able to stop quickly, turn easily and do dips/two-footed shoot the ducks while gliding.  All necessary for chasing down stuffed animals and bouncey toys.

The deadline to apply had already passed, but they had two kids drop out, so there were spots open.  I had to find two red dresses to sort-of match the other girls' dresses, but the Club/USFSA gave the sweeper/slusher team matching fleece vests.  I don't remember if there was a fee - probably.

The girls had a blast taking photos with some Senior-level skaters after they were done.  Thrilling, once I explained who they were standing with after the fact, lol.
