Which spin would judge better in a Pre-Juvenile program?
« on: August 10, 2011, 05:56:52 PM »
Now that there are only 2 spins allowed in a Pre-Juvenile program, which of these two combinations would be looked at by the judges as more difficult?

         1. Camel-sit-back camel with a catch

         2. Flying camel-back sit-forward sit to corkscrew

Also, which single spin is usually preferred at this level? Is a catch on the end of a spin still considered a single?

The first one has a feature (catch) the second doesn't (F/camel is not a difficult fly), but neither as described has 2 features (which would increase the level under IJS).  Whichever one is faster and has better (stronger) positions is the one I would have the skater do. I see catch foot spins that take for-ev-er to catch and slow down to a crawl while the skater searches for their free foot.
For the solo spin, whichever spin is the skater's strongest is the one to do.
