Cha cha slide
« on: July 23, 2012, 07:19:31 PM »
At a couple of rinks I've seen the cha cha slide done on the ice as  the music comes up and kids gather together in the center to do it on ice. Anyone else see this at their rink?

Our rink used to do it all the time at their "Rock and Skate" on Friday nights.  It was hysterical to watch a rink full of kids jump when the words told them to, half seemed to realize mid-air they could barely stand up, so jumping was a bad idea...  like a rink full of dominos.

I've seen this (many years ago, maybe 2007?) on a freestyle. I think it may have been a group class and the coach was giving them a break. Anyway, someone put on Cha Cha Slide and all the freestyle kids went at it. That was pretty spectacular.
Anyway, I've seen it at publics a few times, and always wondered if it was a local phenomenom.

Um I have no idea how to do it on ice... What is the most difficult part, transitioning from dance floor?

The turn facing the other direction. I've seen some freestyle girls do this with crossed feet.
