Worlds- 1913 video
« on: March 25, 2014, 07:52:07 AM »
Someone posted this video on FB- Worlds from 1913.  I don't know how many videos exist that date from this era, but I find these terrific to watch and wanted to share:

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it. Not sure if it was the film technology or the actual speed of the skaters but it made think I might do a little better learning the MITF stuff if I up my speed quite a bit.

unlike most footage of that era, the speed seemed genuine to me.

That was fun to watch
(did anybody else caption the 'stills' in their mind? Like 'hey honey, you got something on your skates. 'where? Are you sure, I don't seen anything')

I liked the guy in the background who couldn't stand still.  Vintage "photobomber!"

Great video.  Thanks for pointing it out.  Loved the double three pattern at the end.  Reminds me of figures in the 1970s.  The pairs was really good too.  Can see the core of skating in that video.

I loved all of the figures - you can definitely see the "core" of all of the positions for the turns.

Fun at the end with the men all together doing that circle thing we all love!

AWesome.

This was great! They all look like they're having so much fun! Wish there were more videos like this. I wonder what they would think of us now.

Gee, it looks different now!

Not only different moves and speed, but the clothing (can you imagine a modern figure skating gal dressing like that?), for sure, and the size of the crowd.
