Haven't heard anything that isn't on the Internet, but I'm glad Obama isn't playing Carter's game and boycotting the Olympics, despite calls for same. People should leave politics out of sports. Imagine how awful it was in 1980 for those young U.S. athletes who had spent their young lives preparing for it, and lost their shot because Carter played politics, to no effect. Or the Soviet athletes who were likewise denied when the USSR boycotted the U.S. Olympics a few years later.

But why are they spending so much money to bring it to Sochi, when Moscow has already proved it can handle it? Will the rest of the world will be attracted by the visit to start frequenting the Sochi resorts?

The 1980 summer olympics do not have much in common with the 2014 winter olympics.

Frank Carroll says Lysacek is in pain, but he'll be 100% by the Olympics.  Yeah, right.  #skatingforums.com

I was thinking of how of how Moscow hosted ISU Worlds in 2011, on very short notice, after Japan, the intended site, was hit with a tsunami and a nuclear plant failure.
