SIT!
« on: May 02, 2013, 04:41:04 PM »
Newbie here - had a lesson today - can now do a backward swizzle!  Woohoo!   ;D

Landed on my butt during the attempts, but that's ok.

I'm still at the march/glide stage, but I told my coach it can get a bit monotonous during practice, not to mention loud (with rink echo).

I asked if she could show me the proper way to push off on both sides, and she demonstrated the classic T configuration to start off.

BUT rather then telling me to bend my knees ad infinitum, she started off by saying, SIT!

I think that's a better, descriptive directive than the old "Bend, bend, bend"  -  she said, SIT, angle one foot out, etc.

It didn't hit me til later what she had said!

Congrats to Weeze - don't sit on your heels, use the balls of your feet for those swizzles and keep your upper body steady and balanced over your feet.
