Moccasin Boots
« on: November 15, 2012, 04:03:34 PM »
The forefoot (forefeet?) of my boots are to the point where they feel like moccasins--all soft and comfy. The heels are too wide now. The ankles are still stiffish.  I'm wondering if it's time to consider new ones?
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

I get new boots only when the ankles break down.  I have never had the forefoot of a boot break down.  If the heels are too wide that could definitely pose a problem though so you might want to consider new boots.  I just hate breaking in skates so I would just wait until they are no longer supportive.

For heels that felt too wide, the shop put in a filler under the insole.

When I was in this situation, I got my boots relined at a shoe repair place.  It turned out pretty okay, though I did have to do some breaking in again.

I don't remember, I know you have a pair of Finesse boots, but are the ones you skate the most in Jacksons too?  If so, you may be able to have them heat molded again to squeeze in the heels a bit.

Comfy sounds great! If you are happy, then you are happy.

I guess you don't jump much, right? AFAICT, the stiffness of the toe box helps support your weight during toe jumps, and prevents toe impingement by the top of the toe box if it bends.

What happens in high heel shoes if the front of the shoe becomes soft?
