Looking for this dress!
« on: June 28, 2012, 12:45:07 PM »
So, I have had this dress for a few years now. I passed every latin dance in it through the Argentine, so it has been a while since I got it. The maker is SixO. It is my favorite dress, but now it is short in the torso. I was going to contact SixO to see where I could get one, but the company just shut down. I can't find any online.

Does anyone have this dress that they would like to sell or trade (in a Size adult XS (long torso) or Small)? Has anyone seen one up for sale?

It's cute, I like it!

In case you don't find the exact same style, what about asking a local seamstress to make a similar one?

That is a good idea, I'm just worried that it won't feel the same (if a different dress pattern is used)! I suppose I will have to do that if I am unable to find one soon.

What?  Six-O has shut down??  They did tons of synchro dresses for us over the years.

It's possible to alter the dress by putting on a longer panty, the skirt might sit higher on the body but it's something I've done successfully.   A local dressmaker can help.

Another possibility is to get a local dressmaker to insert an appropriate amount of fabric in the torso to lengthen it.  If you use the same sort of fabric as the black fabric already in the dress, it won't be very noticeable at moderate distances.  Alternatively, you could use red for the insert to create a new accent in the dress.

I'm shocked to hear Sixo shut down.  They were a huge name!

I like the idea of inserting a strip of fabric. Color blocking is very popular and it would keep the dress useable.

Thanks for the suggestions. I guess I will have to try one of those! :)

Know nothing about sewing, but this sounds the safest :)
