DITTO.

It's the one thing I can do that completely relaxes me and makes me forget anything that's making me nuts.

There are moments when I skate that my body is perfectly lined up. It's like everything clicks into place, and I am so perfectly placed on my edge I could glide forever. In those moments I feel at one with the universe.
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

It's one of the few times I feel and look graceful.
And it's great exercise.  :)

I am far from graceful yet. But I feel strongly motivated to get that way. :)

Because it's cheaper (and more fun/work) than therapy!

My mum once said that she thought I was a different person on the ice - and I think she's right.

I'm a shy person. I'm also an enormous klutz. But on the ice I'm relaxed, comfortable, and enjoy myself. If I fall, there's no shame in it, it's no way klutzier than anyone else. Skating makes me feel confident, graceful, elegant, even co-ordinated and strong.
"Three months in figure skating is nothing. Three months is like 5 minutes in a day. 5 minutes in 24 hours - that's how long you've been working on this. And that's not long at all. You are 1000% better than you were 5 minutes ago." -- My coach

For the challenge, but sometimes it's more challenging than others...

My daughter has always wanted to fly like a bird.  Skating is the closest to flying as she can get.

Start her working on a degree, join the Air Force, fly.

LOL - she doesn't want a plane.  She wants the wind in her hair.  She is intrigued by wingsuits.  Skating feels safer to me!

Flying like the wind is one of the reasons I skate!

My daughter has a better idea - Mama will carry her, skate fast & spin. Ok she's just 3 years old now, I'm hoping she'll grow out of this carrying thing very soon!

Well, I may just be starting but I originally did it because I figured it'd be cute for me and my girlfriend. Then after the first session in over 10 years, I realized.. Wow.. That was damn good excersize.. and also.. Damn.. I may be huge but I actually flew for a few seconds. I've went skating the last 3 days in a row, and I'm going skating again in 8 hours. I think there's an addiciton a-brewin'!

So... Cute, Flying, Weight Losing, Exciting, and... I love the cold :-p

Somehow I doubt that a competitor not only lamented that did not skate her best, because the ice cake.

Sakting brings me joy. I may not be great at it, but there's something about it that causes me to feel like I'm one with the universe.
