I passed Basic 1-8!

Tada!  I have officially passed USFSA Basic 1-8 and in only 8 weeks!  I'm stoked.  Getting those badges was really important to me.  I hate that I quit skating as a kid and never finished Basic.  Well, goal accomplished! 



Now, I begin private coaching once a week.  I've asked that the initial focus of our coaching sessions be on perfecting all of the basic skills.  I want to have proper form and control right from the get-go.

Thank you!  Testing session?  We didn't a testing session, per se.  It seemed like every class I was passing a level.  I entered at Basic 5, having tested out of 1-4 the week before class started.  Then, in 6 sessions, I passed 5, 6, 7, and 8.  I would skate 3 days a week for 2 hours or more and then come to class and say to my instructor, "OK.  I have these elements to show you."  And I'd do them for him and get a check mark for doing them correctly.  Then he'd show me how to do the next few elements, or I'd ask for clarification on something, and the next class I'd have those nailed plus a few more.  Last week, I completed Basic 7 so yesterday I just performed all of the Basic 8 skills and that was that!  :-)

Actually, many rinks won't let you once you've passed any USFSA tests.

Yeah, I've passed pre-bronze moves and free skate and am working on bronze. I've been told I can't test if I did a basic skills membership through my club, which is how I would get the book and badges.

That's awesome!!  Congratulations I think I still have my LTS badges, (alpha, beta, gamma, delts) from ISI somewhere in the attic lol I should try and dig them up one of these days

I received the Basic Skills membership through the program but will have to upgrade for testing.
