Lysacek Changes Agents
« on: April 03, 2012, 01:20:20 PM »
This is interesting:

"Lysacek, the reigning Olympic champion, announced Monday he has switched agents, leaving Creative Artists Agency for Shep Goldberg, who has represented Michelle Kwan for nearly 20 years."

From reports this season, Lysacek wasn't able to reach a contractual agreement with US Figure Skating, which is why he sat out the season.  Maybe a new agent will have more luck at negotiating and get him back into action.

Both Weir and Lysacek are going for 2014 Olympics? It is very interesting indeed. I'd be happy to be wrong, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Plushenko too!  Hope it all happens and can't wait to see the drama :-)

I agree... I fear that this push for 2014 is likely going to end badly for at least one of them, if not all 3.

I really feel that Evan was on such a high after 2010 that he should just leave well enough alone... unless he has a repeat of that in 2014, which seems unlikely, it's going to be such a disappointment for himself and fans alike.

Plushenko is not eligible, I thought?

His amateur status was reinstated before the beginning of the season last summer... the only reason he wasn't at this year's worlds was because he had knee surgery right after Europeans.

I seriously doubt that his knees are going to hold out until 2014....

Jeremy Abbot, great skater, but why can't he get it together outside the US? Johnny Wier may never have medalled at the oly, but at least he got a bronze at worlds (and nicely strategized, he took one for the team).
Yes I'm in with the 90's. I have a skating blog. http://icedoesntcare.blogspot.com/

I thought he didn't end up having the surgery- but the reason he wasn't at World's was because he didn't have a season's best score, so he had to get a special decree to skate at Europeans, and it did not extend to Worlds.   I don't remember the whole thing- but there was something that made him not eligible.

He didn't end up having back surgery because it was determined to not be as bad as they originally thought - I think what I read is they're treating it with steroid injections.  His knee surgery was for a torn meniscus, which is a relatively minor knee surgery - they either clip off or stitch down the loose part and re-contour anything that needs it.

Maybe one day someone will break out what financial deal his old agent was trying to get from usfs or vice versa...

They reinstated him? Seriously? That's ridiculous - why have any status at all then?

Yep they reinstated Plushenko last year. I'm not his biggest fan but he was absolutely amazing to watch live at the European Champs in Jan. ;D

I do wonder if all he and the others mentioned will actually manage to be competitive at the 2014 Olympics? I hope they are but I do wonder if they should have just left it alone...
