I know you aren't supposed to use an a "leather conditioner", on suede, like Lexol, because it destroys the nap and darkens the color.
I found various pages on suede care, like http://www.wikihow.com/Clean-Suede
In your experience, what are the best products for protecting and cleaning suede (skate) boots?

I have Jackson Elite Suede boots. They're black, so any darkening is not an issue. I don't use any special cleaner; I just wipe with a damp microfiber towel. For treatment against water, I like Pedag Liquid Waterproofer, available from Amazon:

I avoid aerosol sprays when there is an alternative. The Pedag product is a dab-on liquid. Before I bought it, Pedag confirmed that it contains no conditioners that might soften the leather. I've treated my boots for ~2 yrs now, and have found that to be true.
