In an effort to lose weight and improve my endurance and general health, I started running about six months ago. I have a running friend who encouraged me to do a race with him, which I agreed to on the stipulation that he come skating with me once!
The race is this weekend and I'm nervous and excited! It's just a 5k, but maybe next time I'll be strong enough for the 8k. Can't believe I'll be one of those people with a number strapped to their back!
Just had to share my excitement!

Congratulations on doing this race and good luck!

Good luck! You can do it!

Oooo good luck! I have the highest respect for people who can run long distances. I can't run for more than 200 meters maybe :p

Have a great time! I've never really run a 5K but have participated in several as a jogger/runner, walker/jogger, walker depending on my physical condition at the time. My kids and I are doing a 5K in a few weeks where they shower you with colored cornstarch. The kids are thrilled. I'm wondering if I should wear goggles!
