Reference and Rulebooks 2021+
« on: March 18, 2021, 10:18:22 AM »
Just a placeholder for reference information and rulebook links.  Kudos to SkateDreams for compiling this comprehensive list and creating the thread back in 2010.  Due to website updates, many of the links in subsequent posts don't work, especially on US Figure Skating.  (Their new site is a labyrinth that is difficult to navigate, especially on a phone/tablet.)

My apologies to all of the original posters at SkatingForums.  Just did not want to lose this great info.

USFSA Parent Links
The BASIC SKILLS program page for the USFSA website has two different navigations.

On the left, if you select Basic Skills, then "For Parents," you are sent here http://www.usfigureskating.org/Programs.asp?id=306 where there is some useful overview information.

On the right of that page, there is a small grey box containing these additional resources:

Additional Resources

Here is a great page, filled with educational information and worksheets for learning about figure skating. The Physics sheets are exceptionally good.

Mod note: Many of these links do not work, but I did want to preserve the original starting post for sentimental reasons.  Sk8dreams is doing well, not to worry!  She's taken a step back from skating and is knocking it out of the park as a grandparent to twins!

US Figure Skating revamped their site entirely and it's less intuitive than the old one.  Best of all, almost everything of value is behind their Members Only login, which has NO SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY.  As an IT professional, I have to shake my finger at them on this one.  It is, as I said above, a labyrinth to navigate in order to find the vital things skaters, coaches and parent need on short notice.

Rules & Policies - https://www.usfigureskating.org/members-only/members/rulebook-and-policies
This page has the current rulebook, which you can view online, download or order a paper-version via the link.
There is a link to the Summary of Changes for the current rulebook, which is a running list as changes are shared by USFSA.
The Compulsory Figures pdf is available as of the time when Figures were discontinued.  You can still test and compete Figures, but there are few Clubs that offer them due to ice time and judges' availability.
There are numerous Ethics and Conduct documents for anyone in the skating world.

It also has Travel Expense-related links, which judges and officials find handy for submitting T&E forms to clubs for reimbursement.

USFSA Solo Dance Information, including MUSIC downloads!  https://www.usfigureskating.org/members-only/officials/skating-rules-and-resources/solo-dance

Solo dance is very popular, especially under COVID restrictions.  This page has the rules, charts, patterns and music downloads for solo dance.

Coaches and skaters are supposed to stay on top of Technical Notifications from ISU/US Figure Skating, but it's difficult to do that when you can't find the page on their website.  The PSA does send out these notifications, thankfully.

Here it is: https://www.usfigureskating.org/members-only/members/technical-notifications

USFSA Adult Skating: https://www.usfigureskating.org/members-only/skating-opportunities/adults

This is the best page in the entire website - it's organized, welcoming and has links to cross-over charts, membership/test verifications, the rulebook, all the competitive tracks and opportunites for adult skaters.  All they need to add is the tech notifications link.  I  have this page bookmarked for the USFSA Members Only site since it has so many resources.
