Title: boston area freestyle sessions
Post by: falen on November 09, 2011, 02:47:54 PM
We will be visiting the out laws, I mean inlaws in MA.  I went on the Marlborough ice rink site and can't find any information on freestyle sessions.  What am I doing wrong?  If there are no FS session, what can dd do on public as I hear some rinks limit you to just stroking.

Thanks in advance.

If you're looking at the New England Sports Center, the Skating Club of Boston runs their figure skating program, so you need to look here: http://www.scboston.org/locations/marlborough (http://www.scboston.org/locations/marlborough)

Are you going to be closer to Marlborough or Boston?  They are about 45 minutes away from each other.  If you want closer to Boston, there's Hayden in Lexington, SCOB in Boston/Brighton, Simoni Ice Rink in Cambridge, and Belmont has/had a rink at their high school complex.

North of Boston there's a rink in Peabody, Hockey Town in Saugus, another rink in Reading, and even further north, you've got Newburyport, Haverhill, and Exeter NH.  They all have FS clubs and freestyle ice.

Also, Colonial FSC at Nashoba Valley Olympia, that's in Boxborough, I think?

There's also a bunch of former-state rinks now run by FMC Ice Sports: http://fmcicesports.com/

Not all of them have freestyle sessions but it could be worth checking out.
