Title: Spoilers ladies short program
Post by: FigureSpins on February 19, 2014, 11:35:19 AM
Spoiler warning - Olympic ladies short spoilers *

Polina edmunds has no fear!  61.04 - that's huge for a 15 year old who just stepped up.  No more second guessing the team USA assignments.

I agree.  Love that she skated so cleanly!

But what's with all the butt spins?  I'm rather disappointed to see the ladies doing those too.....

Can I just also say, that I love this web transmission thing?  I'm stoked to see Brazil being represented (and other small, mostly former Soviet Republics, in the other events).  I love what these places bring to the sport.

As people have said, the A Frame is a difficult position so it's worth more points under IJS.  The math is important since titles can be lost by less than a point.  Every position counts, so it's a good point-earning transition between positions.

I think you have a bias against that spin because I've been watching all day and haven't noticed a single A Frame, lol.  You must really hate it to have it catch your eye so frequently.
It doesn't bother me if it's done well.

Yeah, I think it's pretty safe to say I'm not a fan.

Hope the Russian girl or Carolina Kostner wins.  Nothing personal, but prefer not to see the Korean girl win yet again.  Give others a chance.

Um, it's a competition, not a preschool play. Everyone gets the same chance to win. Hopefully the skater who skates the best that night wins.

Interesting results!

And yes, I agree with Schmeck on this one - you can win twice - IF you are the best!

Well, I  missed the last flight (of COURSE my husband made dinner reservations just as they were warming up....grrr).  But if Sotnikova skated as well as she did in the short, then she fully deserves her medal.

I could barely contain myself watching Mao.  She is the epitome of a competitor.  She pulled out all the stops and showed exactly what an Olympic Champion does.  What a thrilling performance.

Hopefully I'll get to see the videos of the top flight reasonably soon!  Given the results, I bet there was some great skating.  All those ladies are awesome.

It was a great event and ALL of the ladies really brought it to the table (or to the ice!) - SO much better than the men !!
