Ice dreams: 40 years after giving up her figure-skating passion, San Rafael financial advisor is back competing on the iceDave CurtisPosted: 08/28/2010 04:18:22 PM PDTWHILE GROWING UP in Southern California, San Rafael's Susan Bonn spent much of her childhood in pursuit of one dream - Olympic glory in figure skating. But she learned early that things don't always turn out the way you planned, though that doesn't mean they can't turn out well. For Bonn, that meant no Olympic medal but instead a full life, a great job and plenty of family and friends. Coincidentally, those factors have again allowed Bonn to venture back on to the ice.At age 58, she competes through the Oakland Ice Center in U.S. Figure Skating-sanctioned events in figure skating, synchronized figure skating and her newest endeavor, ice dancing.Skating, it is clear, is not only for the young.
