Title: What size blade for EDEA Ice Fly 260?
Post by: laylamill on October 26, 2017, 09:22:08 AM
I just ordered a 9.75 for my Edea Ice fly 260 and I am worried its going to be a bit too long and hang over the back. Anyone wearing this boot and can tell me what size blade you are in? I know Edea recommends either a 9.5 or 9.75 but I haven't had great experience with their recommendations.
Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your specific question.  I order the boot first, make sure it fits, measure the actual length, and then order the blade.  It adds an extra week to the process, but worth it.

I just bought a new edea ice fly 270 boot and went with their 10" blade recommendation. It fits on the boot just fine.
When you receive the blade, line it up with the boot bottom, if it doesn't fit, return the blade and get a better size.

My daughter had 255s with a 9.75 blade.

I'm really late answering this but....

I have Ice Flies in size 260 and needed a 9.5" Ultima Legacy blade.

I just switched to the Chorus skate in 260 and have a 9.5" Coronation Ace blade.

Neither skate fit the recommended 9.75" size. I had to wait until my new skates came in before ordering the blade since the Edea recommendation isn't always accurate.

I have Chorus size 260, with 9.75" Coronation Ace blades.

They fit flush front to back, with no gap on heel.

The last time I had to buy blades, the fitter told me the measurement of the blade should be the length of hour foot when measured with nothing on. My foot’s about 9 3/4, so I switched to the 9.75 (Coronation Ace) from 10.25 and it changed my life.
I have the Chorus 255 and it fits fine.

I have never heard that before.  It would vary based on the skate model because some have soles that extend past the upper, others are smaller than the upper.  How would they mount the blade under your foot properly?

I agree, that blade-sizing procedure sounds bizarre.  Also, different boots have different heel pitches:  for the same size foot, the projected length onto the sole varies with heel pitch.
