A few questions for those who have been to the week-long August camp previously... I'm really contemplating attending it this year!
1) do the adult skaters generally socialise outside of ice time? I'd be going by myself but would love to meet other adult skaters to hang out with between sessions
2) at what time does the Saturday exhibition end? Would I be able to leave Lake Placid that evening at a reasonable hour (say no later than 5 PM), or should I book an extra night for my stay?
3) what is there to do other than skate every day? There's no way I can skate from 8 AM to 8 PM, but as I'd be alone, are there are enough tourist activities to keep oneself busy throughout the week without being exhausted? Most of the tourist websites I've seen cite hiking, enjoying the lake, and visiting the Olympic museum, but that doesn't take up a whole week, does it?
4) do the group classes accomodate various levels? I don't jump nor spin, but I'm working on the higher-level dances. I'm debating whether to try a series of group classes or spend the money on private lessons instead (any coach recommendations?).
5) is there an option to test at the end of the week, and can you take Skate Canada tests? Based on the schedule, I'd try to skate all 3 dance sessions per day, and I have some dances that could be ready to test by the end of the week at that practice and potential lesson rate.
6) any other information you'd like to share to convince me how awesome it would be for me to go?
