I'm hoping to visit NYC this year so was wondering if there were any skate shops in NYC, or as we approach from the North, that might be worth visiting please?

Jim at the Hackensack ice house is great.

Thanks for the suggestion :)

What are you looking for? A shop with a lot of inventory to browse? Or a competent fitter (who will need to order and require a return visit)

Inventory to browse. We have nothing locally so I take the opportunities to check out stores when we travel.

Jim at Hackensack needs an appointment and maybe a wait time so if you want to see him e-mail ahead. Their shop has all the basics, some non-basics, a lot of Zuca bags and accessories and some training clothes and dresses but more in kid sizes.
If you're just looking for stuff, Westside Skate in Chelsea has most of the basics and clothes. SkyRink at Chelsea Piers has some stuff too, more for kids also and more hockey than figure skating. Really depends on what you are looking for.

Sorry I really should have been more specific. I'm looking for a place that has accessories, clothing, etc. as I need new soakers and possibly a nice black jacket for test days, plus other sparkly items that catch my eye and I can persuade myself could be useful ;)
ETA: just took a look at Westside Skate pictures - looks like just what I need. Thanks so much for the info.

Westside Skate should be good for that. Enjoy!
