This is strange: Miles Addison (up-and-coming pairs skater) gave up skating for football?

I understand - figure skating is so isolating sometimes. If it hadn't been for synchro, my older daughter would have given up skating long ago, as she loves team sports. She went from synchro to rugby in the blink of an eye when she got to college.

I think this is going to happen to a young skater at our rink. He is going to regionals this year, but has started playing football for the middle school. Over the months I think his enthusasm for skating has decreased, as the coach requires perfection...
He's a small kid though, so maybe he'll realism football isn't a great place for him when the other kids start growing.

"Addison and Bergdolt received a lot of media attention as the only local skaters in the event; scouts and members of the American Figure Skating Association also were watching because the pair was one of the youngest to compete in the novice pairs division."
"The hardest part for Bergdolt came two months later, when the AFSA invited her and Addison to represent the U.S. in international competitions for the summer. Bergdolt didn't try to persuade her partner to come back. She knew he was off getting football cleats."
88) Um, please tell me I'm not the only one who noticed...the American Figure Skating Association...AFSA... 88)
