Title: Similar Pairs in competition?
Post by: twinskaters on May 14, 2015, 09:39:42 AM
My girls have been working on a fun duet for their spring ice show, and they're loving skating together this way. Their coach said that back in the day they used to have a category for similar pairs at some competitions and he was going to check into whether it still exists. Just curious if anyone here has seen this or knows anything about it.

ISI has a "couple" category that allowed same-sex pairs (sisters, brothers, best friends, etc). There are even badges for it :)

Artistic?
We sometimes have artistic competitions for 2s,3s and 4s which are always popular with siblings and friends (this is in the UK, but might give you a category you didn't think to look at).

Most competitions that follow National Showcase rules for their artistic events have a duet category, which can be same sex partners. Duet is also a category at National Showcase (and, if I'm remembering correctly, it does not require qualifying by placing at a local competition).
