Interesting Fundraising Outcome

Saw this article online:  http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/blog/puck_daddy/post/No-50K-prize-for-11-year-old-who-made-89-foot-h?urn=nhl-wp11564

I get why the kids didn't win the $50k and I'll bet that's the last time they pull the ol' twin-switch, but can you imagine:

(1) a figure skating organization pulling together a charity function with a skill like this?; and
(2) having the local club or club council get a windfall of $20k? 

I would think some people would find the whole idea cheesy and it would be shot down when proposed, but it is food for thought.
