Why is pattern99 thicker than goldseal???
« on: June 15, 2014, 03:33:03 PM »
Hey guys, so my partner has officially decided today that he doesn't like the pinnacles (goldseal copy). He feels that they are too thin. Which in reality, they are thinner blades. We were both wondering why pattern99 so far are the thickest blades we've seen. We feel that with thicker blades the edges feel much more defined than with thinner blades it's more of a buttery feeling between edges. He's going to be switching to the infinity blades (p99 copy) since p99 were his previous blades, hopefully the infinity blades has the same thickness as the true p99. Is anyone familiar with thickness between blades?

I can provide a few data points for you:

My current Coronation Aces (~2007) are 0.163" (4.14mm) thick.
My previous Coronation Aces (~2001) are 0.161" (4.09mm) thick.
The Sheffield-made blades on my musty 1987 Riedells are 0.152" (3.86mm) thick. I really should throw them away, but I think that I'll wait until the Hoarders TV people show up.
