A good fitter is essential. I currently skate in Riedell mens 8 1/2 Wide recommended by the second fitter I saw. My first pair was a Riedell mens 9 Wide which was too big, but the first fitter convinced me that is what I needed. I wear a 10 wide street shoe so shoe size has no real bearing.

I've always had the opposite problem- never enough room in the front!  I'm getting custom Jacksons this go around.  We'll be ordering in the near future.  I've heard on this forum that Riedell does a good job too.  Unless you're in SF, or looking to go visit, there are other options.  The Jacksons will be 950 and the Riedells were even more reasonable iir.

You can also make/cut your own insole, out of something like foam. It should be wide enough to wrap around the sides of your toes. If how isn't obvious, look at my web page (see page on bottom of this message) on modifying boot fit.

You might even be able to attach athletic tape to the bottom of your current insole in such a way as to create "wings" on the side of the insole that take up the space on the sides of your toes.

BTW, if only your toes were loose, you probably wouldn't slide around. Chances are, it is loose a little back from there as well.
