Chem-Glaze?
« on: March 08, 2016, 06:53:42 PM »
Hi, I'm new to the forum, and I'm in the market for new skates. Do any of you have a chem-glaze finish on your soles? Do you like it? What kind of maintenance does it require?

Thank you!
Theresa

Hi and welcome! I have a chem-glaze finish on my custom Harlicks. I have the carbon graphite sole, and it helps keep it from chipping or splintering. It also keeps the soles waterproof without having to reapply regularly like sno-seal. Other than the typical wipe the boots down after skating and air out, no additional maintenance is needed for the chem glaze.

Thanks! How long have you had the chem-glaze? How has it held up?

I have it for over 6 months now, and it looks like new. I've had no trouble with it at all, but my skate tech also checks over my boots at every sharpening just to make sure everything looks good. He has not had to touch up the chem-glaze at all.
