Jackson Premiere Boots - Women's 7C
« on: October 24, 2012, 01:51:46 PM »
Selling my Jackson Premiere boots in a 7C because they are bit too long for my feet.   :'(  Purchased new for $250 in March 2012 and skated 4 to 10 hours a week on them until August.  Asking $175.

Jackson Premiere Boot Details
Jackson Support Rating: Firm Support - Level 65
Axel / Beginner Double Jumps
Rolled over topline for improved comfort and reduced leg irritation
Contour backstrap for improved ankle fit
Fully padded microfiber lining breathes, but doesn't absorb moisture
Flex notch for added flexibility
Support stitching added to aid support in flex area
Foam padding is shaped asymmetrically to fit ankles better and offer lasting comfort
Multiple piece contour tongue with memory foam padding, covered with microfiber for improved comfort
PTR insole is strong, torque resistant, lightweight, won't absorb moisture

Also for sale are the 9 3/4" Ultima Legacy blades ($100) which were mounted to these boots. (See other listing.) Turns out, those blades are too short for my new boots.  Go figure.

Awwwww if only you sold it two months earlier. I would have bought them straight away! You're exactly my size!

Sorry to hear that they don't fit you though.

But Janie, think of it as an investment. Everyone needs back up boots!  :D

PS I had a friend who went through two pair a year! He had a working pair, and a break in pair going at the same time.

(and yes, I do have two pair. One dance one freestyle, mostly because I like to mess around with my equipment and experiment)

The GAM equivalent of a Jackson Freestyle - GAM Select. I didn't get the Premiere level because I was worried about it being way too stiff to break in (I was coming from a GAM Horizon which has stiffness rating 25). But yours I presume is already broken-in!

Ohhh don't tempt me Agnes! I can't believe your friend went through two pairs a year! And I was complaining about the cost of getting new boots after 9 months...

Pull out those backup skates every couple of months and make sure you can still use them.

I put on my Klingbeil backups yesterday because I had to drop off my regular Klingbeil skates for sharpening.  Could NOT skate - it felt like the left blade was bent and I was going to face-plant at any movement.  I wore my Jackson backups this morning.  I could maneuver, but felt like I was wearing wooden clogs en pointe.

I hate skate issues.

I believe the elite skaters generally go thru one pair per season, so two pairs is not quite normal. But I digress... Wish the skates are my size...

I think once you are in a brand/size that you know works for you it isn't unreasonable to have a pair "ready and waiting" before you are in dire need of them.. I had my new boots and blades for several months before I finally took them out on the ice.   I had several things stopping me from making the transition - first was waiting an extra long time for my custom colored blades to get shipped (they took longer than my semi-custom boots!), then I was only a few weeks away from taking my tests, then vacation, then the possibility of more tests, but I am glad I made the transition when I finally did rather than waiting until I desperately needed new skates.

Oho more temptation!
There is a small problem that up to now, I've actually not been in Jacksons. I've been in GAMs which are similar, and I had tried on a pair of Jackson Premiere once when I was buying my current boots, but I would want to try them again before actually purchasing them. It's a good idea not to wait until I'm desperate, but I'm hoping the current boots will last at least a year, so that's... another 11 months away. Seems a long time to have the boots sitting around for.

Not by much!
I don't mean broken down! You didn't even break them in much after five months of 4-10 hrs/wk? Wow that is really a stiff boot.
I also noticed - you punched out the side of the toe area right?

To be honest, I am tempted to buy these, but I'm going to need time to think about it and discuss it with my coach, and might even still not get them in the end. So slcbelle, if you have any other buyers, don't consider me, just sell them! (I definitely won't need blades though, I just got the exact same one)

Janie, I did break them in a little but they aren't soft or have much in the way of ankle articulation creases. in the tongue.  I did have them punched out a bit...tailor's bunion areas.  My issue is that I have a bony and wide forefoot, a medium arch width, and a narrow L-shaped heel.  Wait...am I a duck?  I needed a tiny bit extra width on the side toe.  Too bad they are a half size too long for me!  Doh.

Thanks for letting me know slcbelle. Again, please don't wait for me to buy them, I think I most likely won't, since it's really difficult to say without being able to try them on. Hope your new boots fit you perfectly!

This will be my next pair of skates since Jackson doesn't make the Competitor any more.  I'm planning on getting them in the next year or so.  I do wear a 7C, but was strongly considering a split last modification with a narrower heel.  7C is perfect for my forefoot, 7B for my heel.  Talking to the Jackson rep at regionals, their heel is a with narrower than forefoot, so I'm looking at a C forefoot and A heel.  I'm going to suggest them as my 51st birthday present, year after next.

I'd love to take them off your hands, but I'm not ready since I just got this pair late last year.

The last I heard was that you could still get them without the Aspire blade as a special order. Or did they change the manufacturing system over the last few years, and you didn't want the new ones?

I love my old competitors (except for the heel space on the right boot), I'm loathe to go up to something stiffer.
