Who is Coach Marla? I don't know. But she's apparently convinced some parent to pay for a full sheet of ice for a lesson.

Maybe it was a freestyle session?

Yeah, I thought that initially, but the article said she reserved the sheet of ice for 30 minutes for a lesson. I'm assuming hockey boys know what freestyle is. I mean, I know what stick and puck is.

Thanks, I was getting tired of the 1960's russian ice dance champ (can't remember her name).

My friend's daughter used to figure skate in a cold state with many local rinks (forgot which... North Dakota?). The mother said she reached a level where they needed to hire a private coach and rent the whole rink. I skated with the girl once and she had back crossovers but not much beyond. Made me think maybe in certain areas freestyle session is not a norm and once the skater is out of LTS, there are not many economic options.
