Thanks for the times!

Hmm, 11:30 AM - will be at work, maybe I'll try to hide and find a computer that allows video (working at a school is so frustrating, they block everything!)

I recorded the UniSports broadcast, but I only had time to watch one skater.

Agnes rocked the house; other than a traveling layback that took a while to settle down and another spin that seemed to just die unexpectedly, she was awesome!  She has such fast, tight rotation in the air, with textbook body alignment!  Wow, wow, wow!

Sarah Meir had to withdraw.

Wow, nicely done Cynthia! I know the short program is her strong suit so it aint over yet ... but still.

Can't picture Ksenia Makarova at all, and CBC online is only showing Cynthia's skate right now. Will have to wait til I get home.[/spoiler]

Thanks for the update; glad Agnes did so well.  There's still a long program to go before the medals are awarded.

I like the spoiler tags - thanks Jim!

Ok, the competition is over now so I'm not going to bother with spoiler tags.

Men's results (final):

1 Patrick CHAN   CAN  239.52 4/1
2 Nobunari ODA   JPN  236.52 1/3
3 Adam RIPPON   USA  233.04 3/2
4 Kevin REYNOLDS   CAN  218.65 2/6
5 Javier FERNANDEZ   ESP  210.85 6/4
6 Alban PREAUBERT   FRA  209.05 5/5
7 Artur GACHINSKI   RUS  204.08 7/7
8 Jeremy TEN   CAN  191.86 9/8
9 Yasuharu NANRI   JPN  188.96 8/9
10 Grant HOCHSTEIN   USA  181.65 12/10
11 Kristoffer BERNTSSON   SWE  175.84 11/11
12 Paolo BACCHINI   ITA  167.60 10/12

I'm so happy for Patrick after his somewhat disasterous short program. Not only did he come back strong in the long, but his first quad landed in competition! And what a beauty it was too. That's going to do so much for his confidence in the jump. And worth far more than a win IMO (I think he was given a bit of gift in the short program to keep him in the running, but that happens).

I loved Adam's programs too, except that I thought Romeo & Juliet would have made a better long than a short.

I'm still not sure about Oda's programs.

And big congrats to Kevin Reynolds too. He made history by being the first to land 2 quads in the short program. I also thought his artistry had improved about 100% -- he used to be all jumps and nothing else. His short program in particular.

Pairs results:

1 Lubov ILIUSHECHKINA / Nodari MAISURADZE   RUS  171.40 1/2
2 Kirsten MOORE-TOWERS / Dylan MOSCOVITCH   CAN  170.92 5/1
3 Paige LAWRENCE / Rudi SWIEGERS   CAN  161.15 3/3
4 Marissa CASTELLI / Simon SHNAPIR   USA  159.85 2/5
5 Meagan DUHAMEL / Eric RADFORD   CAN  158.53 4/4
6 Britney SIMPSON / Nathan MILLER   USA  134.05 6/6
7 Huibo DONG / Yiming WU   CHN  129.26 7/7
8 Stacey KEMP / David KING   GBR  125.52 8/8

Wow oh wow for both Kirsten/Dylan and Paige/Rudi. Great depth in the pairs, Jessica & Bryce should be looking over their shoulders.

And wow for the Russians (I guess we all have to start practising those names now  ;D ). Anyone else think Lubov is sooo like Katia when she first started?
