Video editing tips?
« on: September 01, 2011, 05:31:19 PM »
Yeah we now have the Video Vault forum to share vids with fellow forum members!!!

What is your favorite video editing / compiling software?
I am primarily looking at the fastest PC freeware for easy cutting and merging, no fancy effects.

I...uh...use Windows Movie Maker.

(They taught us how to use Final Cut Pro at uni, but I HATE it with a passion and also don't have a Mac at home.)
"Three months in figure skating is nothing. Three months is like 5 minutes in a day. 5 minutes in 24 hours - that's how long you've been working on this. And that's not long at all. You are 1000% better than you were 5 minutes ago." -- My coach

Bumping up! We have seen so many beautifully edited practice videos lately, any recommendations?

Suppose I have a long footage and want to keep several sections and cut away the rest, is there any software that allows me do it in one pass, instead of extracting each section separately and then join?

Many thanks in advance!! <3

I use Pinnacle and have for quite some time.  You mean where you have a long continuous video, and you want to cut out sections? Pinnacle certainly has that facility.

Also use it for the "annual compilation" in which I take all of the year's competition videos and cut them into one DVD.

Haha, well I use iMovie, which is roughly the mac equivalent :)  I would like something better, but I'm also really lazy and it gets the job done, so to speak.

But yeah, sorry, I know nothing of what is available for Windows... so I guess none of this was very helpful

Tried Xilisoft video editor, in the "cut" mode, it lets me specify multiple segments and then output as one file. Works well but costs $50.

Anything else that is free for PC?  :)
