Not that anyone is really surprised. His hip is too damaged to compete anymore.

Yeah it's too bad but honestly I never thought he would compete - especially since his last competition was the 2010 Olympics - wasn't it?

Hopefully it will heal or and he will still be able to skate in shows and stuff (if that is what he wants to do of course) -

After the Olympics, he competed off-ice in "Dancing With the Stars". He did quite well

He did quite well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GPVVsLT4As)

, coming in second, when you consider that he split his time touring with an ice show, and couldn't take the time to fully master some of the off-ice dance styles. The lady who beat him,  Nicole Scherzinger

Nicole Scherzinger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gp1P_DT7O-w)

had prior off-ice professional dance experience (she was a lead singer and burlesque dancer with The Pussycat Dolls), and put all her time and effort into winning. Plus, on a show like that, sexy performance trumps classic style, and she sizzled.

But, for sure, DWTS is not the same as competing on-ice.
