Title: Flying BI Camel Spin
Post by: Pandora on February 05, 2021, 01:54:18 PM
Hi Everybody!  :)

Was wondering if anyone has seen anything like this? Flying camel spins are done from a FO jump to an BO landing. It is always the BO camel. As far as I know a "flying BI camel spin" doesn't exist. I have seen a few jump transitions to the BI camel (they're rare). Gordon Forbes did the nicest one I've seen at 0.10 in this program.

Elena Vodorezova also did one off of an illusion at the 1978 Worlds. Her's wasn't as good, but she did do it. :) Here it is at 0.57.

I've never seen the "Flying BI Camel" as a solo spin, though. And I really want to do one..... Because it would be waaaaaay cool!!  ;)

I tried it from the traditional FO entrance and almost killed myself. ???

So.... Since the only successful ones I've seen were jump transitions from the tight (spinning) BO edge, (the two referenced above), I tried a "bad euler" entrance (a very tight, edgy half-loop landed in a deep edge/spin). That seems to work on an upright.

The trick is landing in the camel position. Working on that now... And working.... And working....  88)

Has anyone ever seen/heard/or know anything about this spin?

I'm hoping to get something on video this week and post it to youtube and link it on this site next weekend. Would love to get skaters interested in this spin. Maybe someone will do it. That would be awesome!!!
