Yesterday I was talking to a woman at the rink that was rather tentative on the ice. She is currently in Adult 1, but skated/competed as a kid and teenager.
She started skating again because her grand daughter is in Basic Skills and privates. It has been over 40 years since she was last on the ice.
She has seen the grandfathering chart and said she has passed 3rd Figure which would put her at Intermediate. She laughed at the idea of skating Intermediate.
Is she "stuck" with having to compete at Intermediate if she did wish to start competing again?
Aside: She has some low level Jackson boots for now, but is looking to move up. She said she had $1500 custom Sp Teri boots but her daughter had thrown them out when because she never used them.
But I wonder at the condition of 40+ year old boots, plus the boots she used at the Intermediate level probably aren't the best to go back into Adult 1 with.
