Jackson Freestyle boots with Ultima Mirage blades. The boots are heat moldable but have never fit quite right even with repeat moldings. My heels move in these boots and I'm developing a bursa on the top of my left foot and bunions on my right foot. Yesterday while wiping down the blades after skating, a friend pointed out that the right boot (my landing foot) is developing the typical deep crease one sees when boots start to break down. These skates are about two and a half years old and I have roughly 500 hours on them (10 blade sharpenings). Although I'm a tad disappointed with the fit and the fact that they seem to be short lived, they were good reentry level boots when I came back to skating after being off ice for over 30 years. This summer I plan to make an appointment with Mike Cunningham down at Skater's Paradise and retire these puppies. Here's hoping the replacement boots will fit well and wear like iron.
