Title: YouTube Clips for learning?
Post by: kiwiskater on March 12, 2012, 04:35:01 PM
Hi All

Does anyone know the url for some good clips of basic skills? my coach recommended it but never remembers to send me the links & if I look around you find videos of varying quality.

I'm still in the beginner stages working on mohawks, 3 turns, edges, 1 foot spins, spirals etc (both back & forward, insides & out)

Here are some past threads that can help you:

I especially like the 5min videos mentioned in one of the threads above, especially the British coach's video on spins.

3-turns: There's a video by videojug (search it online, "videojug 3-turn skating") which gives a nice intro to 3-turns, except that those 3-turns are extremely basic, I don't know if they'd be useful to you. Mohawks: There's no single step-by-step video on this, so I just watch skating programs with good mohawks and then play it in slo-mo. Spirals: I don't think you need videos for this -- for me, it was something I had to feel, not like the mohawk and the 3-turn where there's a distinct sequence. I think that if you master edges, you can master spirals.
