At first I cringed at the times for the live skating - but then I realized that's when the cats are usually bugging me in the middle of the night for attention.  So, maybe I'll get up and watch skating, just to piss off the cats!

Pairs is showing now.  Only caught Pang & Tong - not their best showing, imo, but enough to take the lead.

Have to set up the recorder for Universal Sports broadcasts later today since I missed all of the live streams this morning.

Sorry, I don't know how to post the results from the free skates separately.

It looks like Pechalat/Bourzat are the early favourites for the silver at worlds.  Based on the results from the competitions so far, it looks like bronze could be a fight between several teams, although my money would go on the Kerrs as the sentimental favourite of the judges (and also as very good skaters).

I was very surprised to see the result of Mirai Nagasu, whose skating I love.  ETA:  I'd forgotten that she is coming off a major injury, so the results probably isn't surprising at all.

In pairs, I don't think there was any surprise about the winners, although the score is a surprise (low - but then they missed both jumping passes).  Sui/Han show that they will be a major force in pairs if they continue to develop well.  Also, congratulations to Yankowskas/Coughlin on winning their first Grand Prix medal ever.  I have always really enjoyed their skating, so it's nice to see them achieving this milestone.

ETA: According to the ISU biographies, this event was the first Grand Prix medal ever for ice dancers Bobrova/Soloviev and for pair team Sui/Han.  Bobrova/Soloviev have had lots of 4th-place finishes, but never a medal, and Sui/Han have earned many JGP medals but nothing on the Senior Grand Prix.  Congratulations to both teams!
