Canadian Sectionals/challenge
« on: November 13, 2010, 12:05:42 PM »
There doesn't appear to be a thread for Canadian sectionals/Challenge, so I'll start one.

Skate Canada has a page on their website which lists all the sectional competitions, at this link:  http://www.skatecanada.ca/en/events_results/events/bmo_sectionals.cfm.  The links don't necessarily go directly to the starting order or results link.

In general, top four finishers advance to Challenge, except for top 8 in Quebec because they are a much bigger section than any other section.  There are some complications with byes, etc, which can mean that there may be one or two additional competitors going to challange in some situations.

The competitions which has take place so far are the following:

1. Northern Ontario October 29-30; results here:  http://www.scno.net/viewpage.php?page_id=49

2. Quebec November 3-7, results here: http://www.patinage.qc.ca/doc/resultats/Section_A_2011/resultats_section_A_bmo_2011.html

4. Central Ontario November 4-7, results here: http://www.skatecanada-centralontario.com/Irma/Sectionals%202011/index.htm

5. Alberta November 4-7.  Results have not yet been posted, but when they are the 'results' tab on this page should become active: http://www.skateabnwtnun.com/com/com_10-11.html

6. Nova Scotia/New Brunswick/PEI joint sectionals, results here: http://www.skatenb.org/events_detail.php?event_id=180&PHPSESSID=c78cbf065ab1ecace318be5425a46826 They are listed as pdfs on the bottom half of the page.

(Note that on some of the results pages the competition is called '2011 sectionals', meaning that it is qualification for 2011 Canadian Championships even though it is still 2010 now).

7. Manitoba sectionals November 5-6, results here: http://www.mbskates.ca/Competition.html

8. BC Sectionals, taking place this weekend, results here:
http://www.skatinginbc.com/content/Competition/2011-Sections-Results.asp  The results are being updated fairly quickly.

9. Western Ontario - taking place this weekend November 12-14.  Results are being posted to this page:   http://www.skating-wos.on.ca/results/2010-11/10sec/index.htm

10. Saskatchewan - taking place this weekend November 12-14.  Results should be on this page eventually:http://www.skatecanadasaskatchewan.com/competitions/, about halfway down .

11. Newfoundland - also taking place this weekend November 13-14.  Results should be on this page eventually: http://www.skating.nf.ca/?page_id=5]http://www.skating.nf.ca/?page_id=5]http://www.skating.nf.ca/?page_id=5.

Note that the BC sectionals competition is being livestreamed by SkateBuzz, at www.skatebuzz.ca.  Click on SkateTV on the top.  On the new page that comes up, click on the Canadian sectionals button on the left hand side of the page, and then on the 'play' button for sectionals.  The previously recorded parts of the competition are also available for viewing.

Also on that page about halfway down is the link to SkateTV, which is doing the actual streaming.
